  1. Beautiful drawing. It seems evocative of the man, even for people who did not know him. Is this your dad? I’m sorry for your loss.

  2. This is indeed my Dad. I made this etching of him for his 70th birthday, based on a quick snapshot. He looks a bit grumpy here, but was nothing of the sort. He will be greatly missed by us all.

    1. He does not look grumpy to me. Lines in an aged face turn downward. I like the look in his eye, a look of consideration and intelligence–it’s a little bit like a challenge, but not aggressive.

  3. He doesn’t look grumpy to me either. Perhaps it is just that you remember him smiling more. Lovely drawing, and I say that having seen the Great British Drawings exhibition at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford two days ago.
